Lazurite, Pyrite and Scandium
Three exclusive ores slot into progression. Each has its depth, its rarity and its pickaxe.
Where to look
Each ore has its altitude band, its chance per chunk and its vein size. A vein spreads block by block: it often covers several heights.

The pickaxe you need
Each ore needs a pickaxe of a given tier, at minimum: diamond for lazurite, netherite for pyrite, pyrite for scandium. Below that, the pickaxe still breaks the block, but you pick nothing up.

What you get
An ore broken normally gives raw material. The deepslate variant gives the same raw material as the stone one. With Silk Touch you get the ore block itself, which lets you move it or sell it intact.
How Fortune behaves
Fortune increases the number of raw drops: without Fortune you always get 1, Fortune I gives 1 or 2, Fortune II 1 to 3, and Fortune III 1 to 4.
From raw to ingot
Raw ore smelts into an ingot in a furnace. Each smelt gives 0.7 experience and takes 10 seconds.

Storing as blocks
Nine ingots make a block, and a block gives its nine ingots back. Material blocks are also an ingredient for the scepters, so do not smelt everything.

Which ore should I look for first?
Lazurite. It is the only one reachable with a diamond pickaxe, and the most common: roughly one chunk in three holds a vein.
Is scandium really that rare?
Yes. One chunk in twenty holds a vein, of only 1 to 2 blocks, and only between Y -64 and Y -48. On top of that you need a pyrite pickaxe to extract it.
Why does my ore drop nothing?
Because your pickaxe is not of a sufficient tier. A block broken with an unsuitable tool drops no items at all.
Can lazurite be found in the Nether?
Yes. Lazurite is the only one of the three to generate in the Overworld, the Nether and the End.
What depth should I mine to find everything?
Between Y -64 and Y -48 you are in the band for all three ores at once. It is the most profitable level, and also the most contested.
