New ores
Three exclusive ores slot into progression. Each has its depth, its rarity and its pickaxe.
Where to look
- Lazurite, Pyrite and Scandium generate only in the Overworld, never in the Nether or the End
- The table shows the starting altitude of veins; some blocks can extend slightly beyond these limits
- Generation attempts one vein per chunk
- Lazurite veins are larger than pyrite veins, followed by scandium veins
- Block counts vary with the terrain; no quantity is guaranteed

The pickaxe you need
Each ore needs a pickaxe of a given tier, at minimum: diamond for lazurite, netherite for pyrite, pyrite for scandium. Below that, the pickaxe still breaks the block, but you pick nothing up.

What you get

How Fortune behaves
Fortune increases the number of material drops: without Fortune you always get 1, Fortune I gives 1 or 2, Fortune II 1 to 3, and Fortune III 1 to 4.
From raw to ingot
Raw Lazurite smelts into an ingot in a furnace (10 seconds), a Lazurite furnace (6.7 seconds), a Pyrite furnace (5 seconds) or a blast furnace (5 seconds). Each smelt gives 0.7 experience. Smokers remain reserved for food.

Storing as blocks
Nine ingots make a block, and a block gives its nine ingots back. These blocks are also used to craft scepters.
Frequently asked
Which ore should I look for first?
Lazurite. It is the only one reachable with a diamond pickaxe and the most abundant of the three.
Is scandium really that rare?
Yes. Look between Y -64 and Y -46 with a pyrite pickaxe. Its veins are the smallest and its generation band is the narrowest of the three.
Why does my ore drop nothing?
Because your pickaxe is not of a sufficient tier. A block broken with an unsuitable tool drops no items at all.
Can lazurite be found in the Nether?
Yes. Lazurite is the only one of the three to generate in the Overworld, the Nether and the End.
What depth should I mine to find everything?
Mine around Y -50: all three ores can generate there and you stay above most of the bedrock.
