Changes to Minecraft gameplay
Enchanting, mob drops and trading: here are the rules to know before playing. Combat changes are detailed in the Combat section.
Enchanting: the full level cost returns
The table consumes the displayed number of levels: a level-30 enchantment costs 30 levels, rather than 3. You cannot preview the enchantment you will receive. Lapis lazuli is still required; only the small cost icons and enchantment preview are hidden.
Warden: extra echo shards
If you kill a Warden, it drops 1–2 echo shards on top of its usual loot. Both amounts are equally likely. Looting does not change this number. A death without a credited player grants no extra shards.
Trading: trade with other players
Trading with villagers and wandering traders is disabled. Piglins no longer barter: they do not take your gold ingots, even from the ground. Commerce uses player trading, the shop and the auction house, where you can list your items for sale.
Mace and spears in Survival
- Crafting :the mace and Minecraft spears keep their usual recipes
- New spears :lazurite, pyrite and scandium spears need one material ingot and two sticks in a diagonal; see Tools and armour or the recipe index for the grids
- Mace :a hit against a player removes at most 5 hearts after protection and absorption. See the combat rules
- Loot :spears no longer appear in village blacksmith chests, buried treasure, underwater ruins, End cities or bastion treasure rooms
Enchanted golden apple: the old recipe
Craft it with eight gold blocks around an apple. Wait 3 minutes between uses; see the combat rules for its effects.
Wither and sculk: two rules to know
You can no longer summon the Wither using soul sand and skulls. Wither skeletons and their drops remain available. Sculk catalysts no longer spread sculk after a death.
