The ScandiCraft mods

ScandiCraft is a modded server, but you install nothing and configure nothing. The launcher handles it, and everything is set from inside the game.

You install nothing

The official launcher downloads the game, the mods and everything they need, into a folder of its own. Your usual Minecraft install is never touched. On every launch it checks that nothing is missing and nothing has been altered.

The ScandiCraft HUD

Four elements show in game: your map, your potion effects, your armour and a frames-per-second (FPS) counter. The armour block shows five fixed slots — helmet, chestplate, leggings, boots and held item — each with its durability.

Everything drags

From ScandiMods, open the HUD settings then Display placement. Each element can be grabbed with the mouse and dropped wherever you want.

Tuning the display

Armour shows horizontally or vertically, on the left or the right. Durability reads as a value, a percentage, a bar alone, or a combination. Potion icons come in three sizes.

The ScandiMods menu

It opens from the Options screen or the pause menu. You will find the HUD, Dynamic lighting, the Map, Shaders and HDR. Each entry switches on or off as you choose, and some open their own settings.

Optimised performance

Four optimisation mods run permanently to keep the game smooth, even when thirty players fight in the same place. The HUD, the map and dynamic lighting are on from the first launch; shaders and HDR, which cost more, stay off until you turn them on.

The map stays fair

The server enforces fair-play mode on minimaps from the moment you connect: no seeing through terrain, no radar showing players. The map is there to orient you, not to show you what others cannot see.

Why you cannot add your own mods

The launcher removes any file that is not part of the official list. That is what guarantees nobody plays with an invisible advantage, and it is the price of a server where PvP genuinely counts.

Frequently asked

Do the mods cost anything?

No. Everything is included and installed automatically. All you need is an official Minecraft account.

Are there keys to configure?

No. No keyboard shortcuts are added. Everything opens from the Options screen or the pause menu.

Does switching a mod off uninstall it?

No. The switch controls whether it runs, not whether it is installed. If an extension cannot genuinely be switched off, it shows as required rather than letting you believe it is disabled.

Will shaders slow my game down?

They can, which is why they are off by default. Turn them on only if your machine has room to spare, and turn them off before a big fight if you lose frames.

Can I use my own minimap?

No, and in any case the server enforces fair-play mode on every minimap. The one provided already follows those rules.
