# Your first steps on the server

Your first session in order: leave spawn, build your base, gear up, then join a faction.

- Spawn is a protected zone: nobody can hit you and no block can be broken.
- Lazurite already needs a diamond pickaxe: go through normal progression first.
- Join a faction early: only claimed land protects your chests.
- After logging in, wait 3 seconds before you can attack.

## 1. Understand where you are

Spawn is a protected zone: building, interaction and explosions are blocked. The moment you step out, PvP applies. The warzone allows combat but blocks every explosion.

## 2. Build your normal base

ScandiCraft progression starts after diamond. Wood, stone, iron, then diamond: nothing changes from the Minecraft you know. Take the time to get a diamond pickaxe, it is what unlocks the rest.

## 3. Go down for lazurite

Lazurite is the first ScandiCraft ore. Look for it between Y -64 and Y -2 in the Overworld, or between Y 0 and Y 31 in the Nether and the End. You need at least a diamond pickaxe.

## 4. Gear up before exposing yourself

Smelt your raw lazurite in a furnace, then craft a sword, a pickaxe and armour with the usual patterns. A full lazurite set holds up better than diamond and enchants more easily.

## 5. Join or create a faction

Without a faction, nothing protects your chests. Join one with /f join if you are invited, or start your own with /f create. Then claim the chunk your base sits on with /f claim.

## 6. Learn combat before you look for it

Swords and axes have a fast pace, with Mining Fatigue slowdown retained. Block-hit brings sword blocking back to the centre of combat. Read the combat rules before your first duel.

## Teleports and requests

- Outside combat, command teleports such as /home or /spawn take 4 seconds to prepare
- Moving or being attacked cancels them
- Wait 4 seconds between teleports
- For 1 second after arriving, you cannot attack or be attacked by players
- Teleport requests expire after 30 seconds, with at most 5 requests pending
- Convenience teleports remain blocked during combat

## Frequently asked

**What happens when I log in?**

You cannot deal attack damage during the first 3 seconds. This delay does not guarantee protection from other players: choose a safe place before logging out.

**Where should I put my first base?**

Far from spawn, and in a chunk your faction can claim. A chest on unclaimed land is protected by no rule at all: anyone can open it and empty it.

**Should I go straight for scandium?**

No. Scandium is very rare and needs a pyrite pickaxe. Go through lazurite then netherite first.

**What happens when I die?**

You drop what you were carrying, as in normal Minecraft, and your faction loses power. That is why nobody goes out in full gear without a reason.
