# Tools and armour

Three gear tiers join the ones already in the game. Their exact values, against netherite.

- The power order is diamond, lazurite, netherite, pyrite, scandium.
- No armour grants knockback resistance: that is a combat rule.
- All scandium gear resists fire and lava.
- Crafting patterns are the usual ones, only the material changes.

## Tools

Each material sets durability, mining speed, damage bonus and enchantability. The table shows the tools' base characteristics. In PvP, an axe deals one less damage point than a sword of the same material, even when the displayed bonus is higher.

| Material | Durability | Mining speed | Damage bonus | Enchantability |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Diamond | 1561 | 8 | +3 | 10 |
| Lazurite | 1800 | 8.5 | +3.5 | 12 |
| Netherite | 2031 | 9 | +4 | 15 |
| Pyrite | 2285 | 9.5 | +4.5 | 17 |
| Scandium | 2540 | 10 | +5 | 18 |

## Armour

Armour points are identical across materials: 3 on boots, 6 on leggings, 8 on the chestplate and 3 on the helmet. What changes is durability, enchantability and toughness, which softens heavy hits.

| Material | Durability | Armour points | Toughness | Enchantability | Knockback res. |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Diamond | ×33 | 20 | 2 | 10 | 0 |
| Lazurite | ×35 | 20 | 2.5 | 12 | 0 |
| Netherite | ×37 | 20 | 3 | 15 | 0 |
| Pyrite | ×39 | 20 | 3.5 | 17 | 0 |
| Scandium | ×41 | 20 | 4 | 18 | 0 |

## No knockback resistance

This is the most important change for PvP: no armour in the game, netherite included, reduces knockback.

## Scandium does not burn

Every scandium tool, armour piece and the bow resist fire: they survive lava. This resistance protects the items, not the player.

## The scandium bow

The only bow ScandiCraft ores can build. Against an ordinary bow: 600 durability instead of 384, arrows hitting 1.5 times harder, an enchantability of 18 instead of 1, and it does not burn. It crafts like an ordinary bow, with scandium ingots in place of sticks.

## Repairing your gear

- Every piece repairs on an anvil with an ingot of its own material
- **Minimum ingots per repair** — 2 for lazurite, 3 for netherite, 4 for pyrite and 5 for scandium, even for a barely damaged piece
- **With fewer ingots** — the anvil offers no result
- **Each ingot repairs a quarter of the durability** — a badly damaged piece can use more than the minimum
- **Level cost** — at least 15 levels, or 5 times the Minecraft cost when higher, capped at 39 levels
- **Limited repairs over the item's whole life** — 6 for lazurite, 5 for netherite, 4 for pyrite, 3 for scandium, including the scandium bow. Other materials have no limit
- **Every repair counts** — anvil, Repair Scepter, or merging two items in a grindstone or the crafting grid. Renaming or applying a book without repairing does not count
- **The tooltip shows the repairs left, for example "Réparations possibles** — 4/6"
- A merge keeps the higher count of the two items
- **An exhausted item can no longer be repaired** — the anvil shows no result
- The Repair Scepter, meanwhile, restores your entire inventory at once, except exhausted items

The patterns are the ones you know. Just swap in the ingot of your material.

## Frequently asked

**Is lazurite better than diamond?**

Its tools are more durable, faster and deal more damage. Its armour keeps the same total armour points, with better durability, toughness and enchantability. Compare each value in the tables.

**Is netherite still worth anything?**

Yes. It sits between lazurite and pyrite, and remains far more accessible than scandium. It has lost its knockback resistance, though.

**Why remove knockback resistance?**

Because it made positioning and combos depend on gear rather than skill. On a server aiming for 1.7.10 combat, it has no place.

**Does scandium armour protect me from fire?**

No. It is the item that resists fire, not the player: your armour will not burn up in lava, but it does not make you fire resistant.

**Which set should I aim for to start PvP?**

A full enchanted lazurite set beats a scandium chestplate with iron everywhere else. Consistency across the set matters more than the single most expensive piece.
